Holy Cross in Africa Celebrates Eleven First Professions

First Vows in Lake Saaka, 7-16-2023

On July 16, at the Holy Cross Novitiate in Lake Saaka, Uganda, 11 novices made their First Profession of Vows. Ten of the newly professed are from the Province of East Africa, while the eleventh is from the Province of West Africa. Fr. Cyprian Binaka, C.S.C., Superior of the Province of East Africa, presided and preached the Mass, as well as received the vows of the novices.

The newly professed for the Province of East Africa are Mr. Cleth Cyril Barnaba, C.S.C., Mr. Andrew Matsiko, C.S.C., Mr. Brian Jackson Marwa, C.S.C., Mr. Dominic Kalani, C.S.C., Mr. Moses Kitavujja, C.S.C., Mr. Collins Rubahiika, C.S.C., Mr. Sam Masheta, C.S.C., Br. Oliver Oliver, C.S.C., Mr. Pius Nsububa, C.S.C., Mr. Joseph Nyamabondo, C.S.C.

Br. Ishmael Amoah, C.S.C., is the newly professed brother for the Province of West Africa.

In addition to their confreres from the surrounding region, as well as their Novice Master, Br. Cleophas Kyomuhendo, C.S.C., and Assistants, Fr. Benedict Mugisa, C.S.C., and Fr. Serapio Wamara, C.S.C., the newly professed were joined by their friends and family for the celebration, which included a reception following the Mass at the Novitiate.

Just over a week later, on July 23, the Novitiate received a new class of eight novices.
