Lighting Candle at Notre-Dame de Sainte-Croix

Our founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, knew that the Congregation of Holy Cross could not fulfill its God-given work alone. The collaboration, prayers, and support of lay men and women would be essential.

Moreau established the Association of St. Joseph a year after founding Holy Cross to enlist the support of the laity. The Association encouraged them to pray for vocations to the Congregation and to support financially its work. Over the years, the Congregation also invited lay men and women to join us as our close collaborators in working in our schools, parishes, and other ministries. Moreau considered these lay colleagues and supporters an irreplaceable part of the Holy Cross family.

What was true at the founding of the Congregation is even truer today. As the work has grown and spread further across the world, the Congregation of Holy Cross depends more than ever on the generous collaboration, prayers, and support of countless lay people to continue serving the Church and world as Educators in the Faith.

We invite you to join us in our work on behalf of the gospel, especially through your prayers. Pray especially for vocations, that the Lord of the harvest may send more workers to the Congregation to serve as religious priests and religious brothers.
