Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward's University Names First Lay Director

Dr Marco Clark

Br. Thomas Dziekan, C.S.C., Superior of the Moreau Province, announced that the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas, has selected Dr. Marco J. Clark as its first lay Executive Director. Dr. Clark has also received a dual appointment as an Assistant Professor of Education at the University.

A veteran of Catholic education, Dr. Clark is currently President and CEO of Bishop McNamara High School, in Forestville, Maryland, a school founded and sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross. Dr. Clark is also a graduate of the school.

The role of Executive Director aligns with Dr. Clark's experience and professional goals.

"Throughout my 30-years in Catholic education, I have been committed to leadership development with the aim to empower future leaders for the Church, our schools, and for society," Dr. Clark said.

The purpose of the Holy Cross Institute is to create a national network among educational institutions founded and sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross. The Institute provides resources, programs, services, and events that educate administrators, faculty, board members and students on the unique educational legacy of the Congregation.

Dr Marco Clark congratulates a student at Bishop McNamara High School

"Dr. Clark is the perfect person for this position as he has been attentive and faithful to our Holy Cross values and traditions at McNamara and has devised ways to help the school community bring hope to the world," said Br. Dziekan.

Dr. Clark earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and his Master's in Education in Guidance and Counseling from Bowie State University in Maryland. He received his Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Clark will assume his position on July 1, 2020. Br. Joel Giallanza, C.S.C., will continue to serve as Interim Executive Director for the current academic year.
