Final Vows in Montreal 2022

Three Holy Cross seminarians professed their Final Vows at Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal on June 4, 2022. Two are from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Province in Bangladesh, Mr. Joy Biswas, C.S.C., and Mr. Juliyas Rozario, C.S.C. The third is from the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Province in Haiti, Mr. Rigolex Doreus, C.S.C. Fr. Mario Lachapelle, C.S.C., Superior of the Canadian Province of Priests and Brothers, presided at the Mass and received their vows.

Having left their home jurisdictions four years ago with the intention to live and minister in Canada, the newly professed completed their post-novitiate formation in Montreal in Saint-Laurent.

Final Vows in Montreal 2022

In his bilingual homily, Fr. Frank Wagner, C.S.C., Province Director of Formation, spoke about the importance of encouraging young men from across the globe to discern their vocations and for Holy Cross religious to widen their perspectives in order to welcome them into the Congregation.

Over five hundred people participated in the Eucharist, including confreres from Haiti, Bangladesh, and the Region of English Canada.

After the Mass, approximately 150 invited guests enjoyed a festive meal in the Pichette Hall of the Oratory.

Final Vows in Montreal 2022

Mr. Joy Franco Biswas, C.S.C., comes from Shimulia, Jessore, Bangladesh. He entered the Novitiate in 2015 and professed his First Vows in 2016. Having begun his seminary studies at Holy Spirit Major Seminary in Dhaka, he came to Quebec in 2018, and is currently completing his theology studies at the University of Laval. Joy enjoys parish ministry and frequently assists at St. Joseph’s Oratory. He also has a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, St. André, and St. Joseph.

Mr. Juliyas Prince Rozario, C.S.C., was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Juliyas was introduced to Holy Cross by the brothers who taught him in high school. After entering formation in 2009, he professed First Vows in 2017. He began his seminary studies in Dhaka, but came to Montreal in 2018 where he continues his theological studies at the University of Laval. Juliyas has had ministry experience at Notre Dame College as well as at St. Joseph’s Oratory. He has also worked in parishes in Montreal and Toronto.

Mr. Rigolex Doreus, C.S.C., was born in Mare Rouge, Haiti. His devout Catholic family and early involvement in his home parish nurtured his vocation to the priesthood. He entered formation in 2015 and professed his First Vows in 2017. After studying at Notre Dame Major Seminary in Port-au-Prince, he went to Montreal in 2018 where he will soon complete his theological studies, after which he looks forward to ministry in Canada.
