On June 13, 2021, the St. Joseph Province and the Province Canadienne, shared their joy in the professions of Final Vows of Br. Clinton James Mondol, C.S.C., and Br. Planard Joseph Corraya, C.S.C. The Mass was held at the historical St. Laurent Church in Saint-Laurent, a parish staffed by Holy Cross since 1863.

Fr. Thomas Gomes, C.S.C., the Director of Pastoral and Liturgical Ministry and Superior of the local community at St. Joseph’s Oratory, presided and preached at the Mass, which was held both in French and Bengali. Fr. Mario Lachapelle, C.S.C., Superior of the Province Canadienne, received the vows by proxy for Br. Subal Rozario, C.S.C., Superior of the St. Joseph Province in Bangladesh.

Holy Cross priests, brothers, and sisters in the greater metropolitan Montreal area attended the Mass. Immediately after the ceremony, they joined the parishioners at a reception to congratulate and celebrate with our newly professed brothers. The vow ceremony was live-streamed and is available for viewing on both YouTube and Facebook.  

Br. Clinton and Br. Planard arrived in Montreal in 2019. Since their arrival, they have learned how to speak French and are preparing for future ministry in Canada. They currently reside at the House of Formation established by the Province Canadienne adjacent to the parish in Saint-Laurent.

Br. Joseph Clinton Mondol, C.S.C., was born on June 2, 1993, in the Khulna Diocese in Bangladesh. Professing his First Vows in 2015, his previous ministry experiences include teaching catechism and working with the sick and disabled at a home staffed by the Missionaries of Charity. Living in Montreal has deepened his appreciation for Holy Cross internationality. A gifted singer, Br. Clinton is also an amateur magician who brings humor and joy to his ministry.

Br. Planard Joseph Corraya, C.S.C., is 31 years old and is from the village of Charakhula, Kaligonji, Gazipur. One of four children, he is the son of Mr. Hemonta and Mrs. Shikha Corraya. Having a B.A. in English and a two-year diploma in Philosophy and Theology, he professed his First Vows in 2013. Br. Planard appreciates the camaraderie of community life and the spiritual support he receives from his brothers. Having a love of teaching, Br. Planard hopes to work with young people in the future.
