The Congregation of Holy Cross congratulates Fr. Pierre Labine, C.S.C., for receiving the Canadian Meritorious Service Decoration for his long-term service with Vosh Santa Cruz, a ministry that he founded in 1999 which provides eye examinations and glasses for the underprivileged around the world. Fr. Labine has sponsored over 70 missions with volunteers from several countries who have provided over 300,000 eyeglasses to those in most need.
The Meritorious Service Decorations (Civil Division) recognizes Canadian citizens who have performed an exceptional deed or activity that brings honor to the country, from advocacy initiatives and health care services, and to research and humanitarian efforts.
The award ceremony will take place at a future date at Rideau Hall, the home of the Governor-General in Ottawa.
