Holy Cross Brother Professes Final Vows for the Vicariate of Tamil Nadu

Fr Panneer Selvam receives Br Michael Amalorpava Nathan's Final Profession

On the heels of the Feast Day of Blessed Basile Moreau, the founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross, the Congregation’s Vicariate of Tamil Nadu in India gathered on January 26, 2020, to celebrate the Final Profession of Br. Michael Amalorpava Nathan, C.S.C. Br. Nathan is the first finally professed brother for the growing Vicariate.

The celebration was held in the chapel of Moreau Illam, Fathima Nagar, Trichy. Along with Br. Nathan's family and confreres in the Vicariate of Tamil Nadu, there were also other religious and well-wishers who joined in the great celebraton. 

In addition to presiding at the Mass of Profession, Fr. Panneer Selvam, C.S.C., Superior of the Vicariate, received Br. Nathan’s Vows. Fr. David Adaikalam, Assistant Superior of the Vicariate and Director of Formation, preached the homily.

After the Mass, there was a felicitation of the newly finally professed followed by a cultural program performed by the young men in formation. Afterwards, the community, local religious, relatives, and well-wishers enjoyed a celebratory meal.

Br Michael Amalorpava Nathan and the religious who attended his Final Profession

Br. Michael’s introduction to Holy Cross began in 1976 when he lived in community with the late Fr. Philippe Payant, C.S.C., at the Anbu Vazhzu Ashram in Palani. Br. Michael continued to live in the Ashram until he expressed his desire to join the Congregation in 2013. He entered the Holy Cross Novitiate on June 10, 2015 and professed his First Vows on June 18, 2016.

Currently, Br. Michael lives and ministers at Moreau Illam in Fathima Nagar.
