The Holy Cross Novitiate in Cascade, Colorado, held its Mass of First Professions on Saturday, 1 August, at Sacred Heart Parish in Colorado Springs. This year the newly professed were an international group including four members of the U.S. Province of Priests and Brothers and two members of the Mother Province in France.

The four newly professed from the U.S. Province are all for the Priests’ Society: Mr. Joseph Crowley, C.S.C., Mr. Jack Herzog, C.S.C., Mr. Lane Poché, C.S.C., and Mr. Daniel Pronko, C.S.C. Their vows were received by Fr. Peter Jarret, C.S.C., Vicar of the U.S. Province of Priests and Brothers, who also presided at the Mass.

For the Mother Province, the newly professed include one each for the Priests’ and Brothers’ Societies: Br. Guillaume M. De Lacombe, C.S.C., and Mr. Vianney J. Mourlon, C.S.C. Fr. Romauld Fresnais, C.S.C., Director of Formation for the Mother Province, came from France to receive their vows.

During their novitiate year, the six novices had been accompanied by Fr. Jeff Cooper, C.S.C., Novice Master, Fr. Joe Pedersen, C.S.C., Assistant, and Br. Pablo Quan, C.S.C., Assistant. Fr. Cooper preached the homily at the First Profession Mass.

In addition to the family members and friends of the newly professed, there was a great turnout from the parishes and the ministries where they had served during their novitiate. As always, there was also a solid contingent of Holy Cross religious present, including Fr. Drew Clary, C.S.C., Director of the Office of Vocations for the U.S. Province, who was leading a discernment retreat that coincided with the First Vows weekend.
