
In preparation for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the International Shrine of Blessed Basile Moreau held a special novena of prayer, including Eucharistic Adoration, the recitation of the rosary, and the Stations of the Cross.
Fr. Paul-Elie Cadet, C.S.C., Rector of the Shrine and Pastor of Notre-Dame de Sainte Croix Church, also invited the members of the parish and the local community to pray during the novena the special “Jubilee Itinerary” that has been set up to mark the 150th Anniversary of Blessed Basile Moreau’s entry into Eternal Life.

The itinerary was prepared by the Shrine’s staff and then blessed and inaugurated on January 20, 2023, the opening of the extended year of celebration to mark the 150th Anniversary.

Beginning at the special jubilee door, the itinerary includes eight stations spread throughout Notre-Dame de Sainte-Croix Church inviting prayer and reflection on different dimensions of the spirituality and charism of Blessed Basile Moreau, including educator in the faith, friend of the poor, imitator of Christ, devoted son of the Church, disciple of the Cross, man of union, and man of prayer.
The Mass for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to culminate the Novena was held in the Christ the King Chapel. Fr. Cadet presided, and Fr. Joseph Gonsalves, C.S.C., Assistant Rector and Assistant Pastor, and Fr. Romuald Fresnais, C.S.C., concelebrated.
