Six Priests are Ordained for Holy Cross in India

Deacon Sharon Piuse was ordained as a priest on May 5, 2022 India

The Congregation of Holy Cross celebrated the Ordination of six deacons to the priesthood from the Province of North East India and the Vicariate of Tamil Nadu. 

On May 5, the Most Rev. Mar Joseph Pamplany, Archbishop of the Archparchy of Tellichery, ordained Deacon Sharon Piuse, C.S.C., who is from the Province of North East India. The Ordination took place at St. Augustine Church in Pulikurumba, Kerala. The Archbishop exhorted the soon-to-be ordained to be compassionate while being firmly rooted in the Lord. 

Eighteen Holy Cross Priests attended the Ordination ceremony along with a number of diocesan clergy, religious, and the faithful. A celebration followed to congratulate and welcome Fr. Sharon to his new ministry.

Ordination Vicariate of Tamil Nadu, Deacon Aldo Vibi Brandon, Deacon Amalraj, and Deacon Joseph Inbaraj

Also on May 5, in the adjacent state of Tamil Nadu, the Most Rev. Lawrence Pius, Bishop of the Diocese of Dharmapuri, ordained to the priesthood Deacon Anthony Jayaraj, C.S.C. The parishioners of Fr. Anthony's home parish, St. Xavier’s Church in Kovilur, were especially proud to host the Ordination of one of their own. Sharing in their pride were other Holy Cross priests, religious, and hostel students who also attended the ceremony.

Two days later on May 7, three of Fr. Anthony’s classmates were ordained priests at St. Sebastian’s Church in Somarasampettai, Trichy. The Most Rev. Savarimuthu Arokiaraj, Bishop, of the Diocese of Trichy, conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Deacon Aldo Vibi Brandon, C.S.C., Deacon Amalraj, C.S.C., and Deacon Joseph Inbaraj, C.S.C. 

After the Ordination, the newly Ordained priests, community, family, and friends, enjoyed a delicious lunch on the campus of nearby Holy Cross School.

Finally, on May 14, another hometown Ordination took place at St. Michael’s Parish as the Most Rev. Thomas Paulsamy, Bishop of the Diocese of Dindigul, ordained to the priesthood Deacon Pravin S., C.S.C. Fr. Pravin was delighted to celebrate with his family and fellow parishioners in the church where he grew in both his faith and vocation.
