The Province of North East India Celebrates Final Vows

Final Vows Northeast India

On October 16, Mr. Sharon Pious, C.S.C., and Mr. Stephen Langsianmunga, C.S.C., professed their Final Vows in the Province of North East India. Fr. KJ Abraham, C.S.C., Second Assistant of the General Council, presided and preached at the Mass, and Fr. Simon Fernandes, C.S.C., Superior of the Province of North East India, received the vows. The Mass was held at the Sacred Heart Study House in Lembuchera, Agartala.

The following day at St. Xavier Cathedral in Argatala, the Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro, C.S.C., Bishop of the Diocese of Argatala, ordained the two newly finally professed religious as deacons.

Deacon Sharon Pious was born in Nadapuram, India, to a traditional Catholic family where prayer and faith were central to family life. This helped cultivate his devotion to Mary. The youngest of three children, he speaks six languages. Entering formation in 2010, he professed his First Vows in 2018. In his various ministerial experiences, Deacon Sharon says he is touched by how people thirst for God and the Eucharist. He will soon minister at Mawkeynrew Holy Cross Parish in Meghalaya, in the Archdiocese of Shillong.
 
Deacon Stephen Langsianmunga was born in Champhai, Mizoram. One of six children in a devout family, he attended Holy Cross School and was a member of Holy Cross Parish in Champhai. With the full support of his family, he entered the Congregation in 2009 and professed his First Vows in 2016. Devoted to the Eucharist, Deacon Stephen says he has learned the importance of listening to people in ministry. He will continue to listen in his new assignment at St. André Parish, Nyapin, Arunachal Pradesh in the Diocese of Itanagar.
