District of East Africa Dedicates a New Parish in Tanzania

Sacred Heart Parish, in the Archdiocese of Arusha

The District of East Africa dedicated its newest parish in the Archdiocese of Arusha in Tanzania. Located in Sombetini, in the outskirts of Arusha City, the new Sacred Heart Parish has about 6,000 Catholics. Fr. Prosper Tesha, C.S.C., serves as its first Pastor.
 
With the assistance and the goodwill of the people and the Holy Cross Mission Center, the construction of the church began in 2018 and now accommodates 2,200 people.

Sacred Heart Parish, in the Archdiocese of Arusha

The Most Rev. Isaac Amani, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Arusha, presided and preached at the Mass of Dedication. Also present for the occasion were the Archbishop Emeritus of Arusha, the Most Rev. Josephat Lebulu, Auxiliary Bishop Prosper B. Lymo, and several Holy Cross religious.
 
In his remarks, Fr. Cyprian Binaka, C.S.C., Superior of the District of East Africa, expressed his gratitude for the close relationship Holy Cross has with the Archbishop and for the support of the people, who are clearly looking forward to being a part of the Holy Cross charism and mission in their new parish.
