Fr. Thomas John, C.S.C., Superior, and the Congregation's pioneering missionaries in the Diocese of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea shared their experiences of founding Holy Cross' newest foreign mission. Having arrived in March 2025, they will tell the story of the Holy Family Mission. While having had their share of challenges and crosses, their testimony revealed the greater hope that comes from working together to form communities of the coming kingdom.

The Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro, C.S.C., is the first bishop of the Diocese of Agartala, having been appointed by Saint John Paul II on 11 January 1996. He reflected on the meaning and process of building up the Church in a mission area, drawing from biblical foundations, the teachings of the Church, and his own lived pastoral experience as the diocese’s founding shepherd. He explored the importance of proclamation, witness, service, community-building, and the formation of local leadership.

In this webinar, an international panel explored the missionary nature of Holy Cross Schools. Dr. Richard Bautch, Executive Director of the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, addressed the overall topic, showcasing diverse examples across the Holy Cross network from secondary schools to universities. Br. PJ Santhosh, C.S.C., Provincial of the St. André Province in India, addressed “Educating Children for Unity in Diversity”, drawing on the experience of educating in a nation marked by cultural, linguistic, and religious plurality. Finally, Fr. Prosper Atukwatse, C.S.C., Principal of Holy Cross Lake View Senior Secondary School in Jinja, Uganda, shared experiences from Africa that reveal an education “Truly African, Joyfully Holy Cross”.

This webinar was hosted in collaboration with Holy Cross Family Ministries, which carries on the legacy and mission of Venerable Patrick Peyton, educating families in prayer, especially the Family Rosary. Fr. Fred Jenga, C.S.C., President of HCFM, spoke on "The Family as the Seedbed of Faith and Mission: Lessons from the Global South". Fr. Willy Raymond, C.S.C., President Emeritus of HCFM, presented on "Fr. Peyton's Vision Reimagined: Evangelizing the Modern Family through Prayer and Media". Fr. Pinto Paul, C.S.C., International Director of HCFM, addressed "Family Ministry as a Core Element of Holy Cross Mission: A Global Call".

This webinar explored the examples of the two patrons of the Year of Mission: Servants of God Br. Flavian Laplante, C.S.C., and Bishop Vincent McCauley, C.S.C. Both exemplified lives given in service of the mission of bringing hope beyond borders. Br. Laplante, originally from Canada, gave most of his religious life in service of the poor in Bangladesh, while Bishop McCauley, born in the United States, was one of the Congregation’s pioneering missionaries to Uganda, where he became a bishop and helped build up the local Church.

Sr. Nathalie Becquart, X.M.C.J., is a member of the Congregation of Xavières. After serving 10 years as the Director of the National Service for the Evangelization of Young People and for Vocations within the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of France, she was appointed by Pope Francis in 2019 as a consultor to the Synod of Bishops. The late Holy Father then appointed her in 2021 to serve as undersecretary to the Synod of Bishops. She is the first woman to hold such a position and the first woman to have voting rights in the Synod.

This webinar focused on the mission of Holy Cross as articulated in the Congregation's early Constitutions. Br. Joel spoke on the importance of zeal in continuing the mission, the nature of mission as Blessed Basile Moreau understood and expressed it. He also emphasized the priority of prayer for our mission.
